OPTIMAL STRUCTURAL SOLUTIONS is a Portuguese medium-size company focused on the development and manufacture of advanced composite structures. We supply the most demanding customers, in industries ranging from Automotive to Space, through Aeronautical and Motorsport.
Optimal has engineering capacities, and expertize, covering the development cycle of composite components from material selection, design and stress analysis and testing.
Optimal has an installed manufacturing capacity suitable for transforming the solutions engineered into products, including diverse composite manufacturing process (autoclave and out-of-autoclave), tooling for composite components and also manufacture of complex metallic parts.
As part of the Optimal Aerospace unit, you will be joining a team responsible for Optimal’s aerospace projects. These projects involve the design and analysis and the manufacturing and assembly of structural parts (CFRP and metallic) as well as the development and follow-up of qualification and PA processes in the context of Optimal supply of engineering services and space hardware for major aerospace industry players.
As part of this team your responsibilities include:
Monitoring and implementing the activities and tasks defined in the projects plan
Propose and discuss technical solutions ensuring the progress of the projects activities
Supervise and follow-up the work of external service providers/project partners, ensuring its compliance with projects activities and objectives
Follow-up and provide inputs to Optimal internal manufacturing activities (CFRP and metallic parts)
Participate in technical and progress meetings with clients and partners and write respective minutes
Writing of technical procedures, reports and presentations
We’re looking for engineers with a solid background or aptitude for product development including engineering design, analysis, manufacture and testing, mostly for CFRP components.
The candidate should have strong motivation and interest in the space industry and in the delivery of high quality engineering services and hardware to this industry.
Master/PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer or similar qualification/professional experience
Experience in R&D projects for product development
Experience in the design, analysis of composite (CFRP) and metallic parts
Experience on manufacturing processes of CFRP components
Experience in structural assessments using analytic and FEA tools and testing
Technical report writing skills (in English)
Ability to take up technical leadership and to manage stakeholders
Multidisciplinary in the aim of the mechanical/aerospace engineering domains
Autonomous and with self-taught capacity
Multitasking and pro-active
Fluent in English with good communication skills
At ease with Microsoft productivity tools and digitally organized
Valued skills and experience:
Knowledge and experience in space projects
Experience in qualifications processes, PA and related documentation for the space industry
Experience in the design and analysis of CFRP components
Experience in manufacturing and assembly processes of composite materials (CFRP)
Experience in testing of composite materials and parts (mechanical, physical, NDI)
Multitasking experience (i.e. from technical tasks to PM and communication with clients/suppliers)
Experience on CATIA, OptiStruct, ESATAN, VAOne or Actran software
